Heritage from every angle
There are plenty of vestiges of Moselle's rich and eventful history in its archaeological sites and museums, particularly in the heritage tourism sites . the forts, fortified churches and military strongholds along the Maginot line built on the eve of WWII bear witness to this area's strategic importance.
Its lush, unspoilt natural surroundings have also allowed arts and crafts - including ceramic, glass and crystal - to thrive. And master craftsmen are still working in Pays de Bitche-Sarreguemines and Sarrebourg today.
Moselle also has another original feature: its industrial heritage from the days it mined the abundant salt, coal and iron-ore in the soil under Marsal, Petite-Rosselle, Aumetz and Neufchef.
