In our ancestors' footsteps
The Vallée de la Moselle is a land of crossroads and generous natural surroundings, explaining why people settled here early on. The choice of Gallo-Roman and Merovingian archaeological vestiges is abundant. The Bliebruck-Reinheim archaeological park is a truly spectacular journey back in time to an impressive Gallo-Roman town, including the public thermal baths, the Princess of Reinheim's sumptuous tomb and a rebuilt Celtic village.
The Musée du Pays de Sarrebourg showcases Gallo-Roman expertise in a contemporary setting. Metz is a first-class, 3,000-year-old Gallo-Roman city, the Carolingian Kings' birthplace, and home to the Musées de La Cour d’Or in the building that once housed the Austrasian Merovingian kings' palace, which still exudes its bygone-day wealth.
